Hey Asperger Girl,
I'm Olivier from Holland..
Last week after 33 years they diagnosed me with Asp Embarrassed
Well i just look at some info, hehe.
Only 3200 people got in in Holland(Europe)of the 16 mil people..
My first impression was,my god all the other Asps are taken from "the Revenge of the nerds"movies..
U are not so bad looking btw  Kiss
Do you have more info about Asperger Syndrome, maybe a website i can find more info on.
I have to go to a institution in Leiden(city nearby me,probably  university /goverment supported)but they already told me not much info is in hands..
Found some info on Wikipedia that's it..
It's all new to me,but like Einstein,Gates,Mozart,Beethoven got it yeah that's cool, despite all the social issues i had.
Groetjes ik hoop van je te horen:)

I've heard that Steven Spielberg is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. I do not know how true it is though. Tim Burton is believed to be an Aspie by his long term partner.

I'm Autistic and I am a composer... you can hear some of my work on my MySpace page if interested. MYSPACE = http://www.myspace.com/aaryknoctivagus

I sometimes joke that High Functioning Autism (what I am DXed with, but very similar to Aspergers) is biological nerdism... however, I'm certainly not a typical Hollywood Nerd, so don't worry too much, eh? Grin

There are plenty of Autistics and Aspies who certainly don't look like Hollywood nerds on the following site... http://www.isn.net/~jypsy/AuSpin/a2p25.htm (The Autistic Adults Picture Project).

There is some suggestion that he might have been joking when he said that.

I am sure that there are many in the Artistic and Entertainment industries that are on the Autistic Spectrum.

No, Dan Aykroyd really has it, (it's just mild) as well as mild Tourette's.

Wiki isn't really particularly good proof... a lot of journalists have been caught with their pants down for paying too much heed to Wiki, you know.

However... It did lead me to the text of the radio interview in question. Note that the interviewer wasn't sure if he was kidding or not, but the text has him saying that it is true... unless he was kidding about that also - lol. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/20041113/msgs/419044.html

From the text... I still wonder. He only mentions a fascination with police as a symptom of his Aspergers... and that he feels naked without a police badge somewhere on him. Seems a very limited understanding of Aspieness there. He also says they didn't give children pills back when he was a child... well they certainly gave me pills as a child for mere hyperactivity... they had me on barbituates during the 1970s between when I was 8-10. But then I'm in the UK... though is the USA so different in these things?

I think I'm more likely to believe him from the text rather than not... but that interview is the only source of this story that I know of and you cannot hear how he said it from reading the text.

Here's the recording... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4181931

I'm about to listen to it myself.

EDIT: In the recording the pertinent part is 29'20" in, until 33'00" and... I think he is kidding rather than serious. The text reads more serious, but when you hear it... I think he was kidding. It does not sound like personal experience to me.

Hi Aaryk Noctivagus & Rocket,
Thnx for the info,very cool!!!

Gonna take alook at your myspace Aaryk...
This gives hope, because i had written songs and composed songs to.
A musical coach i had to help me said from my 30 students you are more talented and faster them i ever saw in my life..
I also wrote songs totally against all musical rules, who sounded normal..
This guy didn't believe i produced that:)
I didn't believe him at all,but now the puzzle is falling into pieces(donno if that's correct english.because it's not my native language..)
However,i could'nt cope with other musicians at all.
That's 4 years ago,and now i want to solve my communication "problem"
I thought i had a big psycho problem..and went to a shrink last month because i had so much conflicts:(
But they never had anything todo with a big ego,i was the second plan, first the "normal"people where always right, because their way is the right one..
The person who gave me the news, said u maybe are very talented with a few things..
Very cool, most of the times the status-info in the states is much better.

Let me know what you think when you hear what of my stuff is on MySpace (only 6 tracks).

Its not songs though... I score micro-budget films (shorts mostly, but I've worked on four features also - sacked twice but two got completed... I have an IMDb page that lists two of the films I've worked on that got distributed/played publically).

HFAs and Aspies, can be very talented. Did you know that there are supposed to be a higher percentage of Autistics with perfect musical pitch than in the regular population?

perfect musical pitch

That's true. I can easily determine a person's mood by the way they talk and the pitch they use.

Well, determining a person's mood is not a usual skill for an Autistic - lol.

So, what is the person's mood if they are speaking in the key of C minor? Grin

usually excited.

Hah... Minor keys tend to sound sad or sorrowful. Hah. Cheesy lol.

For excited, or happy, try a Major key.

For devilish try a few Tritones.

For beautiful and mysterious try some Pentatonics.

And try a pinch Locrian mode if you wish to be unsettled in a weird way - lol Grin

nah, I don't listen by notes. I usually study their patterns in my head and make mental notes.
