playing a really great video game, for sure.

Also, a really good show. Something funny can make you laugh, and a really good drama can suck you in and hold your attention so that you forget you're depressed. For a while, anyway.

Yeah laughing is always a great way to feel better, even temperaraly. The longer term things are a lot harder sadly.

Exercise

I definitely agree with the exercise one.  I would also say that the more vigorous the better,  I used to hate running, but after getting over the initial lack of fitness lump, find it really useful to keep me sane.  However I recommend running somewhere without traffic, if you have inclinations to run out in front of a truck!!!  There is a lot to be said about physical stimulation.

Talking to my friends really helps cheer me up.

Again I agree with this one.  They say a problem shared is a problem halved.  But even just a "light chat" (whatever that is???) can help see things aren't as bad as your mind would make you think!

Agreed. Talking to people (especially about something BESIDES my issues) helps me get my mind off of it, and neutralize it.

Yep. Exercise releases endorphins, so technically, it IS supposed to make you happier! Cheesy And yeah, accomplishing things and doing projects that I really like helps cheer me up. For instance, right now, I am working on a complex pointillism drawing - I enjoy doing it, but I can't wait to see how it turns out! Cheesy

Also, a really good show. Something funny can make you laugh, and a really good drama can suck you in and hold your attention so that you forget you're depressed. For a while, anyway.

Dramas tend to make me MORE depressed and broody, but comedies definitely bring me out of a funk! It's hard to be depressed when you're watching something hilarious. I personally like 'Family Guy', 'Robot Chicken', 'The Simpsons', and 'Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series' (a parody of 'Yu-Gi-OH'). Oh, and I like the funnier episodes of 'House'.

I almost hate to say this, but antidepressants are also incredibly helpful with managing my depression (I've had chronic mild depression for most of my life). I think they should be used as a last resort, but if nothing else is working, DEFINITELY keep them in mind, because they really CAN make you happier! Cheesy

Eating makes me feel better. I LOVE FOOD! My parents say I eat like a horse. Grin Lucky me, though. I'm not overweight! Plus, reading helps me escape from the rest of the world. I just feel whatever the characters feel. I start to feel like I'm not even in my own body! Drawing also helps. I draw my feelings out onto the paper. Afterwards I feel a little better. I would try to follow my obssession. The big problem comes when I don't even feel like doing that!

I had 6 months of group therapy. That really helped. I left the NPC feeling a million dollars.

Have a listen to this and see if it brightens your mood:

This is the musical equivalent of MDMA.  Wink

Another surefire way to fix depression is to speak to a cat and stroke her and make her purr.  A cat's purr is very relaxing and soothing for the human as well as the cat.   Wink

i dont suffer from depression.. but when I do feel slightly down or think im starting to feel depressed:

i spend time with my 2 mastiffs and play with them... i talk and spend time with the only friend I have (and she's very dear to me). I also sleep.

the dogs mitigate the immediate onset of it... taking a nap really helps a lot as it recharges me (who knows, maybe the sleep delta brainwaves soothe things out!).. and just talking to my friend about whatever topic just brings me back into focus.

I think just getting out of the house helps me. I tend to hide away during my bad spells, which makes me feel worse.
