My daughter is in a private school for students w/ learning disabilities, but is the only one w/ as.  She gets support, but not enough.  She is flunking some classes and is always loosing her backpack or notebooks.  I am looking at other schools and found one that has only 10 sudents.  They have a very individual approach, but w/ only 10 students the social scene would be almost nonexistent.  I don't know weather to keep her where she is struggling, but seems to have some friends even though she never sees them outside school at all or trade what little social interaction she seems to be getting for academics.  I've looked and looked and it is so hard to find a middle ground.    Confused

This is a tough one, I think being exposed to other children is important for aspergers children, it helps them learn about people and the world. Is there any way for you to get more support for her in her current school?

Does she say to you why she is struggling?

Thanks for giving me your opinion.  Her school is supposed to be for students who struggle elsewhere, but she's the only one w/ as.  She has trouble keeping up in general. Even though there are only 8 students in the class w/ extra help offered daily in all classes she can't always focus.  She wants to start taking meds to help her focus, but her dr and I are afraid it will increase anxiety so not sure what to do.  She also doesn't like me to get involved in her school work and gets angry when I ask ??s about school in order to help her.  Not really sure how to help her organize when she doesn't want me near her things.  Any suggestions?

Her concentration problem sounds more like an ADD problem than aspergers. I never got my work done as a child or teen, not because I couldn't understand but because I never got around to doing it. Have you discussed any options about ADD medication?
